Prepare the local connection
Install X to Eagle in a supported browser and open the post on X. To save to Eagle, install and run Eagle on the same computer. The extension connects to its local API on port 41595; a browser preview alone does not create an Eagle item.
Open the capture popup
Use the extension’s capture button on the post. For a post with media, this opens the capture popup when Eagle is connected. If you see the Eagle launch prompt, start Eagle before saving. Open the post’s detail page when you need the author’s follow-up replies, and let those replies load.
Choose only the media you need
Inspect the previews and select the images or videos you actually want. Available quality and successful retrieval depend on the source. A video thumbnail is a preview, not the video file. Supported HLS video is processed locally in the browser with WebAssembly FFmpeg; some sources may still be unavailable.
Keep useful text, not every reply
Choose post text, selected replies, both, or no text, then edit the note before saving. This is useful when an image’s prompt or production details appear in an author reply rather than the original post.
- Review the reply selection and keep the relevant author explanations.
- Capture uses the main post’s reply area and stops before “Discover more”; recommended posts are not author follow-ups.
- The source URL and author information preserve where the material came from.
Save and check the result
Choose your Eagle destination and save the selected media. The chosen text becomes the media’s Eagle annotation. Open the toolbar icon to view today’s Eagle save records in the Sidepanel, then inspect the item in Eagle. The Sidepanel is a daily record, not an archive of every X post. Respect the author’s rights before reusing the material.
